Playful Adulting: I Never

When it comes to adulting, I think there’s an interesting balance that we must attempt to strike. Yes, we have to spend the morning fighting with your car that won’t start, the afternoon fighting with your phone company that overcharged you this month and then the night fighting with the clogged toilet. That is hard core adulting right there.

But at the same time we can’t let the adulting of life bury us. You ever meet those grown-ups (like actual grown-up, grown-ups) that just look like this is how their life is going?

In all honesty, it probably is how their life is going – because if you let it, that is what the responsibilities of life will all too happily do to you.

I’ve come to realize that part of adulting is also making time to play. That doesn’t necessarily mean dying your hair blue (although I highly recommend that!) – it just means making sure to take small moments of time to bring a little joy and laughter into your life.

So I’d like to start sharing some of the small ways that I have been trying to Playfully Adult.

I’ve Never Played “I’ve Never” Outside Of A Bar…Until Now

A few weeks ago, on a whim, I picked up a deck of “I’ve Never” cards. I think it was meant to be a crazy, kinky game for you and a partner (which could also be fun) but I did something different.

I set it out on the table…for anyone to pick up and ask. In fact, the rule is, you can’t ask more than 5 questions because that’s not the point. And no alcohol is needed to participate. Because that’s not the point either.

The point is to break the monotony. The point is that asking a crazy, giggle-inducing question will give you an opportunity to step outside of Adulting and play.

The cards we got are not family friendly but there are other conversation cards out there or you could make your own!

What are some other ways you find help yourself be playful during the day?

Now get out there and have some fun, you adult!
