Easy Adulting Tip: Skimm Your News

Being an adult means having a basic understanding of what is happening in the world. Staying up on current events allows you to be more informed about the decisions you make and prevents you from having to nod awkwardly to avoid giving away the fact that you have no idea what’s being discussed.

Unfortunately, this is also one of top five things I hate to do. I hate reading or watching the news.

It’s boring

Yeah, I’ll say it so you don’t have to. Who has time to sit around and read long articles about the politics in Yemin or watch some newscaster drone on about changes in interest rates?

It’s depressing

Life is hard enough without having to be bombarded with story after story about the things in the world that are so bad they made the news. No thank you.

So…how do you do your adultly duty without being bored and depressed?

One of my favorite finds was The Skimm.

If you haven’t discovered this fabulous tool, here’s the story:

Each morning, the Skimm sends you an e-mail with the top five or six news stories in bite size form. Like here’s one:

If you really want to get into those long, boring articles just click the links to read more. Otherwise scroll on down to the next one.

I really feel that I stepped up my adulting game with The Skimm. I’m informed and knowledgeable, while at the same time not bored or depressed. And did I mention it’s free? All the winning.

Want to give it a try? Just sign up here.

Now get out there and read the news, you adult!
